Lighting design for honor - Brian Reilly and Suzanne Dressler with Production Manager John Lant behind the board.
NEW VIEWS is committed to serving a broad public through readings, workshops and productions that will enlighten, empower, and prompt thoughtful and constructive dialogue about ideas, events, legacies, and characters. Our presentations may entertain, comfort, challenge -- or even confound -- audiences of different backgrounds and points of view.
The founders of NEW VIEWS firmly believe that no ideas grounded in reason, humanity, and compassion are dangerous. Rather, as art and history remind us, they often lead to new thoughts, words, and deeds.

While its focus is national in scope, NEW VIEWS has deep ties in Central Virginia: Nearly every founding member was born, educated, and/or has resided here for decades.
In addition to their formative years spent in Virginia, together they bring professional practice and life experiences from work and residence in Atlanta, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. They provide a national perspective on the best work underway in American theatre.
In 2023, the founders chose to create a new, supportive, and professional space for the presentation of new works by American playwrights of all backgrounds and points-of-view.
NEW VIEWS is the result.
NEW VIEWS is located in Lexington, Va., the southern gateway to the magnificent Shenandoah Valley, which is flanked by the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east and the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians to the west. The spectacular vistas provided by these geologic formations in no small part influenced the name of the theatre company.
Home to the famed Virginia Military Institute and Washington & Lee University, Lexington is a charming and historic city filled with art galleries, museums, and historic landmarks. It has fewer than 8,000 residents, yet annually attracts nearly three times more visitors than its population. These visitors generate more than $185 million in local revenue each year.
NEW VIEWS is committed to enhancing the quality of life for Lexington and other area residents and attracting visitors to its presentations, all of which, in turn, will contribute to the vibrancy of the region’s arts and economy.
